    Lightbulb 0xHACK - Oxford Info-Sec Group

Just discovered this; in my own backyard!

    http://seclists.org/fulldisclosure/2009/Sep/0105.html

I'm so shocked that there are other people actually interested in this sort of practical thing around Oxford that I figured I'd post it here as well, in case some other locals are lurking on my favourite forums...

    Howdy,

It looks like a great opportunity for you to teach them some "real" skills.

The innocent have nothing to fear, right?

  5. #5
that entirely depends on your definition of 'innocent'
and maybe its a secret group that want to kill reverse engineers, they'll meet u in the pub, seduce you with alcohol.. then the beer goggles kick in...
actually, are you still a student? if so, the last half you're probably used to by now ;p

yea go ahead and tell us how was the meeting
Found in the OpenGL header file for Visual C++ 6: 'typedef GLint int '. AAAARRRRGGGHHHH!!! [Don't get it? You're not a C programmer.]

A hacker does for love what others would not do for money.

Being married to a programmer is like having a cat. You talk to it but you're never really sure if it hears you, much less comprehends what you say.

Well, no kidnapping or arrests, but there was some alcohol

Only four of us turned up in the end, but a decent mix so we had some good chats - couple of pentesters, a lecturer, and me. One of them is even a recent newbie on the board, but I won't out him

It's going to become a regular thing apparently, so we might even end up doing some small projects in the evenings. Apparently some other people expressed interest, so we should get a few more in future weeks once the students roll back in. Frankly any opportunity to combine reversing and beer is a welcome one for me

evlncrn8: Haven't been a student myself for a while now; working on my overly ambitious reversing tool (more about that in a while...) full-time at the moment. Would like to go back in a few years though...
