    Softice in virtualbox

    Can anyone help to get softice working on virtualbox?
    I have installed driverstudio 2.3 on latest virtualbox, but softice screen doesn't pop up when using Ctrl+D; The dos screen remains there, and system is blocked.

    Thanks

    Hi,
    In the FAQ, there is a part about SoftIce, you can also use the search function with keyword like "softice installation". I also found this http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=150
    I'm a bit surprised nobody tried it that much..Kayaker, you there ?

    I read the Faks and other threads, but still no hint on working softice on Virtualbox xp guest.

    I have driverstudio 3.2 working on Xp Sp1, but not on virtualbox xp sp1 guest.

    Waiting for help.

    Thanks you all

    Sort of waiting for some sign of a search attempt, such as in some of the Similar Threads listed a few mouse scrolls down the page.

    I don't know "the answer" for Virtual Box, but you could read some of the following threads and try a few things. Unless someone has solved a known issue with it, you'll have to work on the problem.

    A few things to think about, all mentioned previously:

    Use the last official patch for DS32, which is in the Collaborative RCE Tool Library.

    VMWare requires a couple of settings modified in the .vmx file. Perhaps Virtual Box may have something similar you can change:
    vmmouse.present = FALSE
    svga.forceTraces = "TRUE"

    If you can Ctrl-D a second time and get control back on the desktop, then Softice is probably running OK behind the scenes and it's likely a graphics support problem. If the keyboard is hooked properly you could even type in some basic commands and see their output in the history log. Viewing the history log from loader32.exe (Save Softice History As), will tell you if Sice loaded properly.
