New server my children.
Let us hope we can stay here for quite some time .

March 11th, 2007, 22:16
I've posted an announcement of the status of the new server on Exetools.

I've alerted the use of the http://woodmann.cjb.net/forum/indes.php link for a few days until the DNS servers spin up with the new links to woodmann.com and woodmann.net.

Welcome back everybody.

Thanks again guys

Thanks, efforts appreciated.

they charge for pressing "restart" button? I'm moving to hosting business

March 12th, 2007, 15:23
Their story was that they had to "press the restart button" too many times and that they would thereafter no longer do it for "free."

We suggested there was a need to "press the restart button" because there was something mechanically wrong with the server, which produced a "segmentation fault" causing the server to frequently crash and, often, fail to restart. They didn't want to check that, even though there had just been a complete HD failure necessitating a complete rebuilding of the software and data just before this began and the problems never went away.

So now they can keep their crappy server. This one is much better, mechanically, and much more up to date, software wise. And here, things just "work" the way they are supposed to. We couldn't even make a consistent backup on the old server any more, without it crashing.

it's nice that forum is back on new server

Huh??????????????? - all this stuff is dated 3-11, 3-12, I just now gained access, couldn't access 2 hrs ago - an incremental resurrection????????
Still happy to see the forum up and running again - STILL DREADING WEEKENDS - once we pass that hurdle I'll be convinced

So where have ya been the last 2 days?
Have faith this time, the waking nightmare is over!..

March 14th, 2007, 05:13
Wait a minute. It can't be a "waking nightmare," unless I got a chance to actually "sleep", can it?

Between Work and this project, life's been very busy. If I wasn't complete Schizoid, and able to devote some small part of my brain to both functions at once, I would have gone nuts by now. No, wait... I am nuts.

Hey, that's interesting. Woodmann.com is, at the moment, resolving to woodmann.cjb.net and this forum.

I am glad you guys are back!!

March 15th, 2007, 17:29
Great to have you back, I thought the darker forces were at work again.

It also seems I went to long without logging in and my registration expired again, shame on me!

March 15th, 2007, 18:20
2nEw: If you post your old name, I am sure one of the admins will restore you to your self.

March 15th, 2007, 18:44
My old login was 2nEw. I have had it expire before and was able to get the same one back.

I see that I have old posts from 2000 in the archive but the last few years I do more reading than posting. Back in the days of yore I spent hours a day on Sandman's and Fravia's forum but real life has me too busy these days.

Hats off to Woodmann for taking over and keeping this great resource alive!

Is it my imagination or are you quoting more and more like F+? :P

Anyway, just want to take a moment to thank you Woodmann. For all that you are doing. Really appreciated.

No, otherwise he would have said, "this mystical webserver is akin to the wizard's goblet of truth."

Seriously though, awesome job guys keeping this board alive! We appreciate all the hard work you do!

I'm still missing the linux rce part of the woodmann website (http://woodmann.com/0xf001/) since the crash. In the same time also the sticky disappeared in the linux subforum here.
Are you going to fix this? Or did you drop it under the carpet and hoped noone would notice

You can poke 0xf001, I received a mail recently, telling he's back to release review and stuff

March 19th, 2007, 14:44

We still have 0xf001's files.
If he wants them to be public, I will be
more than happy to make them available.

hi woody,

i would be very happy to be online here again i send u my updated files ....

regarding review: my plans did not work out as i wanted it, yesterday i finished 1 of the last 2 major items left (file: save ), so now only file:load is left (pretty boring stuff ). after that i will release the beta version!
i have learned to be careful with publishing dates/timeframes, so i dont tell an estimate, but now its definately not long to come anymore ...

cheers, 0xf001
