HIEW problem

hey sometimes using HIEW , when i want to change bytes there comes a message" hiew:read only mode".
the version is full and when i restart my pc it starts working again.but eventually the problem again comes.
can anyone tell me how to disable the "read only mode".

Not sure about Hiew but maybe the program you want to patch is running or is opened with another program...

The file is used or "is running or is opened with another program..."

the file you are trying to patch may be in read only (i mean its attrib), if Zairon's advice is not working. Sorry, i use winhex heh!
