hello i am pretty new to all this and i have a question about hiew
whenever i try to edit something in hiew it tells me that it is in read-only mode
either there is a way to get it out of read-only mode that i dont know of or u have to buy the whole thing to do it
im guessing its one of the two...
if u know of a version of hiew that will let me edit files then please tell me where i can get it

Close the file you're working on before you try to edit it. In the case of system files, shut down the system first

Check the file if its a readonly.You have to change the atrributes of the file or save it another name.

Hey, I don't see warez being asked for in his post.

Give the guy a break, he's new to things, and didn't know if his version of hview wouldn't let him edit files or something. He just wanted to know if there was a different version that would. I never saw a request for warez copies.

Haven't used hiew in a long time but from what I remember you could not edit a file if it was already opened by another program, wdasm for example.

Allso close all the prog's which are using the file you want to edit!!

no i was not asking for an illegal copy of it
just seeking help
