Any newbie having problem with softice? Doesnt work on your target platform? (win2k or 2inxp 
Try ollydbg.. in most cases its nicer to use than softice anyways, and it is easier to get working..

I'm not going to tell you how to use it though, if you have any asm experiance you should be able to get it working.
